Champagne Tasting: Champagne Taisne Riocour

The elegance of renowned wine houses and excellence in organic and biodynamic wine
Champagne tasting, what could possibly be more pleasant? Charles de Taisne, the current owner of Champagne Taisne Riocour, introduced to us a wonderful family champagne from the picturesque village of Riceys, near Reims.
The house was founded in 1837, and the family has been selling its grapes to major champagne houses ever since. A few years ago, this same family (four brothers and sisters) decided to become producers. What a great adventure and success! This is what Charles de Taisne told us on the 19th of May at the home of our dear friend Toutie Sahut d’Izarn.
The house cultivates a vineyard of 21 hectares. The wines are pressed, elaborated and matured in the estate’s facilities, then kept for at least three years in the traditional cellars, which guarantee an optimal maturation process. At the same time, the whole family went along with it to champion organic and biodynamic wine making.
Our tasting of the Grande Réserve and the Blanc de Noir was a beautiful journey which this champagne rounds off very pleasantly, integrating the elegance of the Grandes Maisons with the authenticity, a hallmark of the most esteemed winemakers.
