A merry, gourmet picnic in the Jardin du Luxembourg
Our gourmet picnic on 20 May in the Jardin du Luxembourg, with our cooking course group, was truly a happy occasion!
Despite the bad weather and having to wear masks, our nice little group made the best of it. The usual friendly atmosphere of Bienvenue en France reigned supreme throughout the 7 hours we spent together, feasting on a menu that was worthy of the location!
We had sushi, German style mixed vegetables on bread, vegetable crisps à la Tyrrell, keftedes (spicy fried meatballs made from beef, aubergines and feta) with tzatziki (yoghurt sauce with cucumber, dill and garlic) from Edouard’s favourite Greek delicatessen, and a bottle of red Morgon Beaujolais. And let’s not forget the dessert: a Galette Basque filled with custard, followed by macarons of all colours from Ladurée. We had a good laugh!
Our 15,000-step walk (according to the Stepz app) through the 5th and 6th arrondissements of Paris, led us to rue Mouffetard where we all bought the same jar of rhododendron honey. A special thanks to Yukimi for showing us this beautiful spot.
Exhausted by our walk, we treated ourselves to a glass of hot lemon and our new honey on a terrace near rue Mouffetard, beneath a jacaranda tree in full bloom.
All things considered, it was a lovely day!
